Higher National Diploma in Marine Engineering

TMI has launched a new Marine Engineering Programme leading to the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) from Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, UK. This programme is scheduled to commence from early August 2008.

Overview

• Duration - 2 years
• One year in Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) and next in Glasgow College of Nautical Studies (GCNS), Glasgow, UK
• Sea service after 2 years - 6 to 9 months (To be arranged in consultation with GCNS, UK)
• After Sea Service, the candidate will be eligible to appear for watch keeping Engineer (equivalent to Indian Class IV) exam in UK

Fees

The fee structure for this programme is approximately:

• At TMI - Rs. 3.45 Lacs including Tuition fees, Lodging and Boarding Charges, Laundry Charges,  Uniform, Stationery, Books and  IELTS (International English Language Testing Systems) examination fees, Air fare/VISA to UK (at actual), Caution Money etc.
• At GCNS - about 12,000 UK Pounds (1 UKP = Rs. 82 depending upon exchange rate)

Eligibility Criteria

• Passed (10+2) in PCM stream with minimum 50% marks OR Diploma in Mech. Engg./Electrical Engg./Electronics OR B.Sc. Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics with PCM group at 10+2 level
• A candidate will have to appear in IELTS examination for English Proficiency within one year of joining at TMI, and pass with a minimum score of 5.5
• Medical fitness as per International Maritime Standards
• Age- No limit

Application form will be available here in the month of July. Fill the form and send it to the Institute along with a Demand Draft for Rs.800/- favouring Tolani Maritime Institute and payable at Pune and other documents as mentioned on the page 2 of the form.

Selection Procedure

Short listed candidates will be called for test, interview and medicals on campus.

Commencement of Course

The date for commencement will be declared later.
