Eligibility - B. S. Nautical Sciences (via the TMI Distance Learning Programme)

Phase I

To be eligible for Phase I a student must:

• Have passed XII Board examination with PCM subjects.
• Have successfully completed the Pre Sea Training course from an institution recognised by DG Shipping.
• Be sponsored by a ship manager / owner with respect to the provision of the shipboard resources and control.
• Be willing to follow the BITS DLP pedagogy and the work plan.

Phase II

Phase II of the programme can be commenced immediately on completion of Phase I, while a student is still sailing for completing his sea service for the second mate's examination, Such student's admission to the Phase II is automatic provided he declares his intention for the same in a reasonable time.
