Code of Conduct

ATTENDANCE

1. Attendance of students is regulated by O.119. The explanation issued by the University vise No. UG235 dated 3/7/98 relating to O.119 says that "For granting of terms, attendance of 75% of theory, practical and tutorials (wherever prescribed) separately will be required, out of the total number of lectures, practical and tutorials conducted in the term."

2. Students who fail to maintain the condition of minimum attendance on account of bonafide illness or for any other reason which is deemed right by Principal, should apply in writing to the Principal for leave of absence, prior or within 2 days from the date of commencement of such leave, failing which they will be treated as defaulters.

All applications for leave of absence along with medical certificates, if any, are to be submitted to the college office (inward section) and not directly to the teacher.

GENERAL

1. Students who request leave of absence from lectures/ tutorials for participating in sports, games, culture or any other activities for and on behalf of the College/ should submit applications countersigned by their respective professors-in- charge.

2. Parents of Degree/Junior College students are requested to contact the Vice-principal or class teacher or the Principal, at least once in a term to keep themselves informed about their ward's attendance and progress.

CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE

1. Students are accountable for their behaviour in and around the college campus.

2. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the college premises and is a punishable offence.

3. Students are not allowed to invite any outsiders to the college or to the college canteen.

4. After admission, each student will be given an identity card to which he/she must affix his/her and photograph and obtain the signature of the Principal (students without identity card will not be allowed to enter the college campus or the college library.

5. A duplicate identity card will be issued only after a penalty and after a satisfactory written explanation has been received from the student concerned. The duplicate identity card well be issued only after a month from the date of receipt of application for the same. The receipt given will permit the students to attend lecture. Such students will not be permitted to take part in sports or any other activity during the period unless they obtain permission from the Principal for the same.

6. Students must maintain strict silence in the class room, the library, the reading room and in the corridors, specially when lectures are going on in adjoining rooms. Students must not loiter in the corridors when classes are going on. When they are free, they should go to the reading room, the library or the students' common room.

7. Students must not attend any class other than their own without the previous permission of the professor concerned.

8. Every student must be dressed modestly and neatly.

9. Students must take proper care of college property, and help in keeping the premises neat and clean. Students must not write on the blackboard, or disfigure walls, tables or benches.

10. Any willful damage to the property of the college will be dealt with as a breach of discipline.

11. Any attempt made by a student to disturb of defy a teacher within or outside the premises will be treated as a breach of discipline and the Principal will have unrestricted right to take disciplinary action against the concerned student which can be even removal from the college.

12. No function can be organised by any student/s without the consent of the Principal.

13. No students should, without permission of the Principal, write to the press or communicate any information to it about matters relating to the college.

14. A student must not directly of indirectly be involved in any act which, in the opinion of the Principal, may be detrimental to the interest and general discipline of the college.

15. If a student remains absent without prior permission for a long time his/her name is liable to be removed from the college register and the college in not able to send any information regarding the same to the concerned student or his/her parent /guardian.

16. No student shall take private tuitions from any teacher of the college.

17. Mobile phones are not allowed in the premises of the College.
